Republic Day celebrated with gaiety, enthusiasm in Reasi (26 Jan 2015)
The 66th Republic Day was celebrated with gaiety, enthusiasm and national spirit at District, sub-divisions, Tehsil and Block levels besides in educational institutions and social organizations in Reasi today.
The main function was held at Mini Sports Stadium Reasi, where Deputy Commissioner, Reasi-Shabir Ahmad Bhatt hoisted the tricolor and took salute at the parade comprising 31 contingents drawn from CRPF, District Police, IRP, Police Training Centre Talwara, NCC and tiny platoons from various Government and Private schools.
While addressing the gathering, Bhat underscored the importance of this historical Day on which our country turned in to a Sovereign Democratic Republic, one of the best systems of governance prevailing in the world, adding that it was on this day in 1950 that the constitution of India came into existence.
While listing the achievements in Reasi district Bhat added recently Katra-Reasi and Pouni-Bhamla road has been handed over to state run agency PWD from BRO and a project of Rs 15.76 crore has been sanctioned to upgrade the road, whereas district hospital Reasi is expected to complete by January next year, OPD block of hospital is already completed. He further added that in last one year over 19 villages were benefitted with 11 new roads and 80% of work for the project taken under Special Task Force Jammu, for the improvement of drinking water supply to katra town is completed, scheme is likely to be commissioned in the upcoming summers . Bhat informed in health sector Mahore gets new community health center in 2014, whereas in education Reasi gets Polytechnical College, and in tourism sector for last couple of few months there is a huge inflow of devotees visiting Shiv Khori and Shrine Of Shri Vaishno Devi and in the coming summer season heavy rush is expected.
A colourful cultural program depicting the rich culture and heritage of state was also presented by various educational institutions on this occasion.
Present on the occasion were MLA Reasi-Ajay Nanda, Senior Superintendent of Police-Vivek Gupta, senior officials from civil and police administration, army officials, members of Panchayati Raj Institutions, prominent citizens, members of press, other dignitaries and large number of locals.
At Katra, CEO SMVDSB, Dr M K Bhandari hoisted the Tricolour.
