ECI’s Electoral Photo exhibition inaugurated at Reasi by Div Com.(29 Nov 2014)
REASI, NOV 29- Election Commission of India has launched Photo Exhibition for electoral literacy in Reasi district, which was inaugurated by Divisional Commissioner Jammu-Shantmanu accompanied by IG Jammu-Rajesh Kumar at mini secretariat Reasi.
DIG Udhumpur-Reasi Range Garib Dass, DIG(HG)-Basant Rath, District Election Officer Shabir Ahmad Bhatt, SSP Reasi Vivek Gupta, ADC S.KGupta, Deputy District Election Officer-Joginder Singh Rai, Returning officers of 58-Reasi, 57-Gulabgarh, 59-Gool Arnas , Nodal Officer SVEEP-Dr Jagdish Mehra and other officers from civil and police administration were also present on the occasion.
Photographs from venues of SVEEP Campaign from across the district along with electoral literacy material of ECI, locally developed electoral literacy material in vernacular languages, photographs of district icons, achievements of electoral awareness, cartoons and caricatures were displayed in the exhibition .
A live Polling Booth was also established in the exhibition to demonstrate Electronic Voting Machine. Electoral literacy material was displayed in English, Hindi, Urdu and Local languages. A series of cartoons and caricatures was also displayed. The Div Com appreciated the efforts of entire team for displaying the electoral best practices, informing voters about electoral process and ethical voting besides reflecting the events organized in last more than six months of the SVEEP campaign in the district.
Later on Divisional Commissioner chaired a high level meeting to review the preparedness for smooth conduct of Assembly elections in district Reasi. The District Election Officer-Reasi briefed the Div Com about the arrangements made for smooth conduct of elections in a free, fair and impartial manner in the district. SSP Reasi also gave out the security arrangements being made to ensure peaceful conduct of elections in the district.
The Divisional Commissioner directed all the concerned officers that no loopholes should be left, strict monitoring of MCC violations and follow MCC guidelines of ECI. He directed all the concerned officers to be vigilant and report immediately to your higher officers if any complaint of non functioning of EVMs would be received during first two to three hours of the start of polling, as these are very crucial. He also instructed RO’s to dispatch the polling parties to far off polling station earlier in time than the others.
Inspector General Police Jammu, Rajesh Kumar also gave directions to all the police officers to be vigilant at all the nakas and don’t allow any suspicious person , to enter into the district, who can distur polling process on the polling day. He also suggested that additional buses have to be arranged before the dispatch of polling parties to their respective polling stations.
