Aghar Jitto Mela from June 19, DC takes stock of arrangements (13, June 16)
Katra, June 13:The three-day historic Aghar Jitto Mela in remembrance of Baba Jitto Mal would commence at Aghar Jitto, about 6 km away from katra from June 19.
This was disclosed by the Deputy Commissioner Reasi Ravinder kumar during a meeting of officers and local committee members today at Aghar Jitto.
This ancient religious place is situated in the lap of Trikuta Hills on Katra -Reasi road where lakh of devotees of Baba Jitto from various parts of the country visits to pay their obeisance.
As per the religious rites, the devotees of Baba Jitto on 17 june shall perform the Rote Ceremony on the bank of river Chenab near Dera Baba area by giving Rote to the river Chenab followed by other religious ceremonies.
DC directed the officers of various departments to make all the necessary arrangements well before the commencement of the mela which include security, drinking water, and un-interrupted power supply, adequate provision of essential commodities, sanitation, fire services and transport arrangements.
Health department was directed to ensure availability of team of doctors with ambulance and required medicines round the clock during the mela days. Similarly PHE was asked to ensure availability of water tankers at the mela site.Besides, adequate deployment of security personal enroute and around mela site would be made by district police.
DC also directed Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Employment and other allied departments to organize awareness camps and install stalls at the venue. He asked the Assistant Director, CAPD to provide adequate ration, kerosene oil and LPG Cylinder during the mela.
The Tourism Department would ensure publicity of mela through print and electronic media well in advance. Assistant Director Handicraft has been appointed as Mela .
Earlier as a part of Clean Green Mission,DC also inagurated a Community Sanitary Complex, constructed under the Swachh Bharat Mission (G), in Aghar jitto . He was accompanied by ACD Reasi Suram Chand Sharma.
Constructed at a cost Rs. 2.00 lakh, the sanitary complex will cater to the needs of hundreds of pilgrims-who visit the Aghar jitto.
Speaking on occasion, DC Reasi expressed satisfaction over work done under "Swach Bharat Mission" by Rural Development Department and said that this sanitation campaign will be made a routine feature for improving the sanitary conditions of rural areas.
