I-Day celebrated with fervor, enthusiasm at Reasi (15 Aug 2014)
Reasi, August 15- Like other parts of the country the 68th Independence day was celebrated at Reasi with patriotic fervor and zeal.
The main function was held at Sports stadium Reasi, where Minister for Tourism, Ghulam Ahmad Mir, unfurled the Tricolor and took Salute at the March Past from the contingents of JKP, IRP, CRPF, NCC and students from various schools.
Among other present were MLA Reasi Baldev Raj Sharma, MLC Reasi Jugal Kishore Sharma, DDC Reasi Shabir Ahmad Bhatt, SSP Reasi Vivek Gupta, district officers and the officers and officials from police, CRPF and army.
Speaking on the occasion, Mir remembered the great leaders of the freedom movement who sacrificed their lives for the cause of nation. He congratulated the general public of Reasi on this occasion. While sharing the achievements of state Government for Reasi district Mir Informed that government has created new administrative units in Reasi ,which includes 2 Sub-Divisions, 07 tehsils,08 blocks,13 niabiats , 43 new roads has been sanction under PMGSY out of which 17 have been completed, under MGNREGA rupees 3460.62 crores has been spend during last financial year where as more than thousand youths of district have been provide jobs through SSRB in different departments during last year.
The Minister said that the period of present Government has shown extraordinary change in all the sectors with special prominence to education, Health, Tourism, and Agriculture. He appreciated the district administration for speeding up pace of development works.
Various educational institutions also presented a scintillating cultural programmes based on national patriotism and national integration on the occasion.
At Katra, CEO SMVDSB Dr M K Bhandari hoisted the Tricolour; similar functions were held Mahore, Pouni and Arnas.
